Female virginity hymen facts. Over the course of history, there is very little written about male virginity. To protect themselves from violence and even death, affluent engaged women in these places may arrange for hymenorraphy, which is a surgical procedure to repair the hymen by suturing it together. For a long time, it was believed that an intact hymen was evidence of a girl’s virginity, as the hymen posed a physical barrier to sexual intercourse. Should the pain or bleeding persist, a consultation with a doctor is in order. This is especially so for anyone who has been sexually abused or assaulted or had any type of sexual contact that they were not ok with. In fact, just like females, you cannot tell if a male is a virgin, unless you ask him.
